Anthony Joshua Says of Tasha Jonas and Women’s Boxing: “Give People Their Credit and Their Due” Boxing News

Anthony Joshua has demanded that women’s boxing receive as much praise as men’s as Natasha Jonas prepares to finally become the world champion.

Jonas, Joshua’s 2012 Olympics teammate in the GB squad, is hoping to secure a world title opportunity in the coming months under his new contract with Sky Sports Boxing and BOXXER.

“Give the fighters credit – Ramla Ali, Katie Taylor, Tasha Jonas,” said two-time heavyweight champion Joshua.

“So many good fighters.

“So you got me, Tyson Fury, Dillian Whyte.” Fat us all!

“We are all assets. It doesn’t matter, woman or man.

“Give people their credit and their dues. “

Jonas fell twice in an agonizing, and arguably controversial, way before becoming world champion.

She initially fought valiantly as an underdog to keep Terri Harper to a draw in a WBC super featherweight title fight.

Then, in a rematch of their much-vaunted London 2012 fight, she was narrowly dominated by undisputed lightweight champion Taylor.

Joshua reacted to Jonas’ fight with Harper: “People say it was a big fight for women’s boxing. I think it was a big fight for boxing as a whole.”

Jonas promoter Ben Shalom said: “She was very, very close to Taylor. You could tell she beat Taylor.

Caroline Dubois is about to make her professional debut and believes she can reach the top.

“I would love to see them fight again at some point. I’m sure they will.

“Tasha has her own plans.

“Jonas will fight for a world title in hopefully his next fight, but maybe the next fight.

“It will be on Amir Khan vs Kell Brook [February 19, live on Sky Sports Box Office] or Josh Taylor vs. Jack Catterall [live on February 26, live on Sky Sports] cards.

“It’s great to see women’s boxing so well.

“Caroline Dubois, we think she will become a future superstar. Ebonie Jones too.

“We have a very good team for women’s sport.”
