Eddie Hearn wants to make a “huge” Deontay Wilder fight against one of his fighters

By Sam Volz: Eddie Hearn says he’s willing to offer Deontay Wilder a massive amount of money to fight any of the guys he works with. Hearn doesn’t say who this fighter is, but he did say it was one of three: Anthony Joshua, Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora.

Hearn says the money he would offer Wilder is more than he “could dream of earning” at this stage of his career.

It’s fair to say that if former WBC heavyweight champion Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) accepted Hearn’s offer, it would mean he would fight in the UK, most likely London. As long as Wilder is okay with that, he would be able to put up a potentially easy fight against Chisora or Whyte.

For now, Wilder will take on dangerous contender Robert Helenius on October 15 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

“I think there are a few fights, won or lost, for Anthony Joshua that are still huge,” Eddie Hearn told Intu Boxing. “Tyson Fury, DillianWhyte and Deontay Wilder. They are three there.

“I think we’re on the hunt for all the big fights. AJ wants to fight everyone. He has already proven it. Thus, a The AJ-Deontay Wilder fight is a massive fight.

“As I said the other day, I recently reached out to Shelly Finkel. You should never deprive a fighter of an opportunity. I have a pot of money available, and I’m not saying where in terms of of territory to do a huge Deontay Wilder fight with one of the fighters I work with.

“It’s just frustrating because I want the fighter to know this opportunity is there. Sometimes managers and promoters don’t even let it get to the fighter.

“If I turn to Deontay Wilder and say, ‘Let me tell you the number I have for you. If you tell me, ‘I don’t like you, then I’m not going to work with you.’ Fair enough, but it’s just important that he knows.

There’s no way he can say no to the situation. I’m just trying to get the Deontay Wilder fight for one of the guys I work with.

“Also, at the same time, it’s money far beyond what he could dream of earning at this stage of his career. So hopefully we can have positive conversations.

“Of these three [Joshua, Derek Chisora & Dillian Whyte], he’s one of those guys. We’ll see if we can have those conversations. Looks like he’s going to fight Robert Helenius first. Hopefully he wins this fight.

“When you talk about the money versus the money he wins against Helenius. It’s so substantial. I hope I’m not trying to piss anyone off. Let’s just see if we can sit around a table,” Eddie Hearn said.
