Nonetheless, Shaq has been in the sport of MMA following the UFC for quite some time now. Having many friends in the industry, Shaquille O’Neal became an integral part of the UFC discourse when he once held a UFC press conference at his home.

In an interview with famed UFC reporter Megan Olivi, Shaq revealed that he once held a UFC press conference at his home and was watching them all through the security cameras. He also talked about the individual who introduced him to the MMA and UFC world, who was and still is frowned upon by a former UFC champion for a different reason.

Michael Bisping, Vitor Belfort and Shaquille O’Neal: One man’s hero is another man’s villain

I was introduced to the sport in Hawaii by Vitor Belfort before the UFC was really, really big. He came up to me and said, ‘You don’t want to watch me fight this guy?’ I was like, ‘Are you a boxer?’ He’s like, ‘No. I am a fighter. He beat this guy in 15 seconds, and I’ve been a fan ever since.‘” Shaq said.

While that’s what the NBA legend thinks of Vitor Belfort, Michael Bisping had to say something else. Speaking about fighting Belfort while using banned substances in the UFC, Bisping said:I ended up paying the ultimate price because I ended up losing an eyeball to the headbutt he gave me.

He concluded by saying:Granted, legal technique but strength, I don’t think it would have been the same if he hadn’t taken all that testosterone.
