News and updates on interactions with judges and referees

The latest eSports Boxing Club Developer Roundtable covered several gameplay aspects that we were excited to hear about.

Unfortunately, no release date has been set yet, but we have some information on how the interactions between judges and referees will affect the game.

Let’s see what the development team had to say.

Judging in eSports Boxing Club

Several different aspects were discussed during the ESBC Developer Roundtable, but one aspect that caught our attention was judging.

In previous boxing games, the judging mechanic has been talked about but never really talked about much. It looks like eSports Boxing Club is planning to dive a little deeper.

TECHNICAL: Looks like judging is getting some extra attention

Creative Director Ash Habib said “We really wanted to develop the way the judging system works at ESBC. We did that by giving the judges, essentially, personalities.”

He also mentioned that a preemptive scoreboard will appear between rounds but will change throughout the fight.

He then went on to explain how you will find judges in eSports Boxing Club who will judge for accuracy, while others will score for big hits and damage. That kind of variety will only make ESBC a better game.

Referee Interactions in ESBC

Referee interactions also appear to be heavily involved when eSports Boxing Club finally releases.

The good part about it is that it makes this boxing game look more realistic. Habib said you probably won’t see the referee very often because most boxers don’t worry about the referee during a match.

Some of the interactions mentioned by Habib are that the referee will separate the boxers, deduct points, check for bruises and cuts, and more once the match is out.

He also asked the eSports Boxing Club community to submit comments on things they would like to see when ESBC is released.
