UFC: Paul targets White vs. McGregor fight

Other professional boxers have been accused of being “jealous” of Jake Paul‘s recent success in the sport.

The YouTube star has made a significant rise in the sport after winning all five of his professional fights against former UFC stars Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.

He has also drawn new eyes to the sport, generating exceptional paydays for himself in the process.

UFC legend Chael Sonnen believes several boxers have been poor at “self-promotion” and have yet to offer the rising star any real challenges.

“‘He should fight a boxer’ is a quote,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel. “This is a quote spoken by anyone who wants to bury [Jake] Paul.

Jake Paul celebrated a second victory over Tyron Woodley this month

“Not a fucking person said a name. And the reason is you don’t know them. Boxing has done a terrible job. Boxers do a terrible job with self-promotion.

“They look at Paul and they are jealous instead of looking at Paul and saying ‘Oh my God, this is what I have to do. This is what I should do.’

“Because we can keep tossing the term ‘a boxer’, we can say it until we’re blue or we can tell the truth. We don’t know who they are.”

Paul is on the hunt for his next opponent after securing a brutal knockout victory in his rematch with Woodley earlier this month.

However, he would first take a break from the sport after fighting four times in eighteen months, going on vacation with his partner Julia Rose.

The YouTube star has previously been accused by female star Claressa Shields of “stealing” opportunities from other boxers who are naturally trained in the sport.

Calls have frequently sounded for Paul to face a ‘real’ boxer in the future after his bout with British fighter Tommy Fury collapsed following his pullout with a broken rib.

Despite questionable attitudes towards his career on the part of many sportsmen, Paul is convinced that he can become world champion in ten more fights and has called up a number of opponents.

These include MMA stars Conor McGregor and Jorge Masvidal, in addition to pound-for-pound king of boxing Canelo Alvarez.

Sonnen went on to say that Paul’s call for MMA fighters represents good business and can attract huge viewers over the course of his career.

“The guys from Dana are under contract with Dana,” Sonnen continued. ” The end ! There is nothing more to say here.

“Paul knows that, Paul doesn’t think, ‘I can get under Dana’s skin and I can do just enough to drive him crazy and make him send one of these guys.’

It won’t happen, Dana won’t do him a favor, he’s not interested, and it has nothing to do with Paul, Showtime, or anyone else – Dana has never done that.

“Its policy is very simple, it is very direct but it is also very coherent. “Why does Paul keep doing this?” I don’t think you have to put on your Columbo rain jacket to figure that out.

“It’s because he gets an answer. It’s very good for business.”
