Women’s national boxing from October 21 in Hisar, performances to be considered for the selection of the CM

The National Women’s Boxing Championship will be held in Hisar, Haryana, October 21-27 and the performance of the boxers will be taken into account when selecting the team for the world championships in December.

The event will take place at the St Joseph International School in Hisar. This event will mark the return of the women’s national championships after a hiatus of more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“… performances will be taken into account when the selection committee meets to finalize the squad for the next AIBA World Championships which are scheduled for later this year,” said the Indian Boxing Federation (BFI ).

The tournament will be played under the 12 revised AIBA weight divisions: 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, + 81kg and + 81kg.

We took over the domestic circuit slowly but surely. Full safety precautions have been taken for our boxers and support staff as well as others involved in organizing tournaments in these unprecedented times, ” said BFI President Ajay Singh.

“We have successfully hosted five national championships in the past three months, including the junior and youth events.

“We are happy that despite the constraints, we have seen so many new talents participate and have the opportunity to continue the sport at the highest level,” he added.

The draw will take place on the evening of October 20.

All boxers, team officials, coaches and technical officials participating in the championships must provide a negative RT-PCR report, with barcode, of the tests carried out 72 hours before their arrival on the site.

The men’s event took place earlier this month in Bellary, Karnataka. The gold medalists from this tournament were selected for the global showpiece in October.

The exact dates and location of the Women’s World Championship have yet to be announced by the International Boxing Association (AIBA).
